Thom Collier, a current member of the Knox County Board of County Commissioners, has announced his intention to seek re-election. The election is scheduled for March 19.
Knox Pages reports that Republican Thomas Collier is vying for another term on the Knox County Board of County Commissioners, having already served on the Board for 12 years.
According to his profile on the county commissioners' website, Collier holds pro-life, pro-business, pro-Second Amendment, pro-agriculture and fiscally conservative views.
In addition to his role as county commissioner, Collier is a seasoned business owner and realtor. His previous roles include serving as an Ohio state representative and holding numerous board and leadership positions. He has also received several awards in recognition of his community service efforts, as per information available on the county commissioners' website.
Collier told Knox Pages that he is seeking re-election because "I want to continue problem-solving, working with people, making our community a better place, and serving." In Collier's view, the three most pressing issues facing Knox County are "1. Planning for growth, development, and housing issues. 2. Continuing to be good stewards of the county’s finances, buildings, grounds, and other assets. 3. Reducing the strain on the budget from justice line items and state-mandated programs and property taxes."
The Knox County Commissioners' website states that responsibilities of the Board of County Commissioners encompass establishing and executing policy, allocating funds to county offices, budgeting and monitoring expenditures, along with taxation duties. The Board comprises three members; two are elected simultaneously in an even-numbered year while one is elected two years later.
