Scott Zimmerman has announced his candidacy for a seat on the Knox County Board of County Commissioners, with elections scheduled for March 19.

Zimmerman, a Republican candidate as indicated on the sample ballot from the Knox County Board of Elections, has outlined several key aspects of his campaign. According to his campaign website, Zimmerman is committed to enhancing infrastructure, fostering small businesses, facilitating communication between residents and various levels of local government, and safeguarding property rights.

A lifelong resident of Knox County, Zimmerman's connection to the community is deeply rooted. He spent 13 years at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center and also, as he noted, served the Mount Vernon community by "overseeing various projects and managing parks, public buildings, lands, the cemetery, and the aquatic complex."

Zimmerman further emphasized his family values and conservative Christian principles. On his bio page, he stated that he supports balanced growth while preserving the character of the community. Zimmerman aims to prioritize sustainable development in order to respect the past while envisioning a prosperous future.

The Knox County Commissioners' website outlines the responsibilities of board members. These include establishing and executing policy, allocating funds to county offices, budgeting and monitoring expenditures, and taxation. The Board consists of three members; two are elected simultaneously in an even-numbered year while one member is elected two years later.
