The House Transportation Committee has passed House Bill 380, a piece of legislation that aims to establish the Tuscarawas Valley Memorial Highway. The announcement was made by the bill's sponsors, State Reps. Brett Hillyer (R-Uhrichsville) and Kevin Miller (R-Newark).
This bill proposes to designate a specific segment of I-70 in Licking County as the Tuscarawas Valley Memorial Highway. This is intended to honor the victims of a fatal bus accident that occurred on November 14, 2023.
Hillyer, during his sponsor testimony, said, “This bill holds significance to our community and serves as a tribute to the lives lost and families forever changed by the tragic accident that impacted the Tuscarawas Valley community.”
Miller added, “By designating the highway in remembrance, we ensure that the lives lost are never forgotten and that their legacy continues to inspire future generations to prioritize safety on our roadways.”
House Bill 380 will now proceed to the House floor for voting.
