Mount Vernon home prices rise in the first half of 2019

The median sale price of a home sold in the first half of 2019 in Mount Vernon rose by $23,250 while total sales decreased by 0.9%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through June of 2019, there were 109 homes sold, with a median sale price of $115,000 - a 25.3% increase over the $91,750 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 110 homes sold in Mount Vernon in the first half of 2018.

The median sales tax in Mount Vernon for 2019 was $1,259. In 2018, the median sales tax was $1,257. This marks an increase of 0.2%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.1%.
