Mount Vernon home prices rise in the second half of 2019

The median sale price of a home sold in the second half of 2019 in Mount Vernon rose by $21,500 while total sales remained unchanged with 129 homes sold, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through December of 2019, there were 129 homes sold, with a median sale price of $125,000 - a 20.8% increase over the $103,500 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 129 homes sold in Mount Vernon in the second half of 2018, as well.

The median sales tax in Mount Vernon for 2019 was $1,259. In 2018, the median sales tax was $1,257. This marks an increase of 0.2%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1%.
