Mount Vernon home prices rise in the second quarter of 2019

The median sale price of a home sold in the second quarter of 2019 in Mount Vernon rose by $15,100 while total sales increased by 18.5%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From April through June of 2019, there were 77 homes sold, with a median sale price of $115,000 - a 15.1% increase over the $99,900 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 65 homes sold in Mount Vernon in the second quarter of 2018.

The median sales tax in Mount Vernon for 2019 was $1,259. In 2018, the median sales tax was $1,257. This marks an increase of 0.2%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.1%.
