City of Mount Vernon issued the following announcement on Sept. 12.
From the Office of the Fire Chief:
The Mount Vernon Fire Department will be conducting annual hydrant flushing in the Southern half of the City between September 8th and September 25th. The flushing is scheduled to begin around 08:00 and will conclude by 17:00 on each day.
Please refrain from using your washing machine to launder your clothing during the above mentioned times. Sudden drops in water pressure may be noted, but should correct themselves after a few short minutes. If you experience very low pressure or are temporarily without water, please call the Mount Vernon Water Office at 740-393-9504 immediately.
