City of Heath issued the following announcement on Sept. 11.
The City of Heath will conduct the 2020 Beggar's Night on Thursday, October 29 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Last week, Heath Mayor Mark Johns joined other Licking County local government officials in discussions with the Licking County Health Department (LCHD) on ways in which to safely offer Beggars Night this year. The LCHD recommendations each community conduct the event at the same time. Aligning the event in each community will reduce the comingling of communities, which may lead to an increase of COVID-19 cases.
In addition, LCHD recommends:
• Participants stay in family groups
• Children be accompanied by an adult
• All participants wear a face-covering (or mask for those dressing up) in accordance with the current face covering order
• All candy be handed out by an adult (do not grab candy directly from bowl)
In addition, LCHD asks that participants:
• Stay home if they feel sick
• Do not pass out candy if you feel sick
• Wash hands (or sanitize) often
• Observe social distancing and do not gather with other family groups
• Be respectful of homes/families who choose not to participate
The Licking County Health Department will continue to monitor and respond to COVID-19 in Licking County. This event may change based on local COVID reporting, or at the State's recommendation.
