Cost of college went up for all students at Central Ohio Technical College

In-state tuition and fees rose 5.6 percent for 2018-19 at Central Ohio Technical College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Ohio residents paid $4,536 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $240 more than the $4,296 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 60.8 percent more than residents this year, or $7,296. Their price tag grew 3.4 percent from $7,056 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Ohio residents. And about 3 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 85 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 131 students received grants or scholarships totaling $564,204 and 93 students took out student loans totaling more than $417,175.

Including all undergraduates (3,442), 1,381 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.3 million, and 1,046 students took out $5.1 million in federal student loans.
