Former Newark High School standout Owen Poole took the mound for the Xavier Musketeers at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, as his team fell 8-0 to the UConn Huskies in their NCAA Division I baseball matchup.

The contest was held at Elliot Ballpark and marked the teams’ second meeting this season. The Musketeers dropped their previous matchup with the Huskies 3-1 on Friday, March 27.

Poole pitched one inning, allowing two earned runs with one walk and one strikeout.

Xavier’s next game is set for Sunday, March 29, at Elliot Ballpark, once again facing the Huskies.
