FOIA Request Sent to Licking County Regarding Access to Public Records on October 7, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Licking County, Ohio on October 7, 2024. The request was made by us at Licking Today, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request is for access to the county’s FOIA logs from January 1, 2024, through October 7, 2024. The specific fields requested include the requester’s name and organization, the content of the request, the date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA.

As a news organization focused on local government affairs, we believe that access to these public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to our readership.

In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional under Ohio Open Records Law §149.43 et seq.

We await a response from Licking County and will continue to work diligently in providing comprehensive coverage on local governmental affairs.
